GIORGI MARDALEISHVILI

Giorgi Mardaleishvili is a dedicated and accomplished musician whose passion for the viola has propelled him on a remarkable journey in the world of classical music. Giorgi’s musical journey began at the Tbilisi State Conservatoire, where he studied with Professor Nodar Zhvania.

In 2022, Giorgi embarked on a new chapter in his musical education by enrolling at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (MDW), studying with renowned Professor Sebastian Herberg. At MDW, Giorgi studies string quartet performance with Professor Johannes Meissl.

Throughout his career, Giorgi has distinguished himself as a versatile and sought-after performer, collaborating with esteemed institutions such as the Georgian National Music Center and the Georgian Philharmonic Orchestra. His performances as a soloist and chamber ensemble member have graced numerous concerts and festivals across Europe.

Since 2019, Giorgi has served as the Principal Violist of the Pan-Caucasian Youth Orchestra (PCYO), where he has had the privilege of working with esteemed conductors such as Gianandrea Noseda, Lahav Shani, Manfred Honeck, Charles Dutoit, Vasily Petrenko, Jukka-Pekka Saraste, among others. Additionally, Giorgi is a valued member of the Rubik Quartet, an ensemble based in Vienna.

Giorgi is Prize winner of several Music Competitions, including the Second Place Award in the Otar Taktakishvili International Music Competition (2018) and a Diploma from the 7th Georgian National Music Competition (2019). He has also had the opportunity to refine his performing skills through participation in masterclasses led by esteemed musicians such as Nobuko Imai, Garth Knox, Timothy Ridout, Hartmut Ronde, David Aaron Carpenter, Yuri Gandelsman, among others.

In 2024, Giorgi was honored to be named a young artist of the Lisa Batiashvili Foundation. Giorgi remains committed to sharing his passion for music with audiences around the world.
